Pelion Pleiades Hotel

Google Maps in 2026 will send you halfway along the Kissos to Chania route before you hit a rough track and have to turn around, if nobody has warned you about it first. That track is an operating road in summer and becomes a track when it snows, cutting the main road in half. Getting to the chalet was beyond anything I could have imagined: park the car, then walk 20 minutes along an active track. Parents were trying to manage crying children, beginners were falling every ten meters, and there was plenty more chaos before we reached an abandoned chalet that clearly wasn't operating properly. We live in Greece, so I know things can be messy, but this was ridiculous. They apparently built a restaurant and hotel there, but getting to them would take a super specially equipped schwanzeneker and someone who really knows uneven climbs. Even the best 4X4 on earth can't get close. Gold medal for paranoia.

A desperate option. The cafe being crowded doesn't make up for terrible coffee, below average frozen cheesecakes, rude people around us, and prices that are exorbitant for a supposed shelter.

The setting was beautiful and comfortable, with pleasant low music. The food was decent: freshly cut and fried fries, fresh and delicious milk cake, tasty dakos, and more. My excellent rating is really for the very kind, efficient woman who served us quickly after carefully checking our COVID certificates.

Pelion has skiing at the moment, and the bar is open. Nice atmosphere and staff. It does get pretty crowded around lunchtime, but I think that's perfectly fine for a business.
