casa seibel feels really cozy and homely. I stayed more than two weeks and even wished I’d stayed longer. It’s social but still chill, and the volunteers igor and kyan were really sweet and friendly. Best hostel in xela.

I stayed at Kasa Kiwi too, and it’s a nice hostel, but Casa Seibel was cheaper and much nicer in my opinion. It was my favorite hostel of my two-month trip around Central America. The rooms were comfortable, clean, and nice, the bathrooms and showers were always clean, and the hangout areas were pleasant. The kitchen was the cleanest and best stocked hostel kitchen I’ve ever seen. Despite the shower signs asking people to keep showers short or use lukewarm water to avoid running out of hot water, I had unlimited hot water every time. My only complaint was the piano room, one of their private rooms. Cars honked loudly outside starting around 5 am every day, though that wasn’t the hostel’s fault.

The bed was one of the most comfortable I’ve slept in for ages, and the kitchen was clean and had everything I needed. Casa Seibel is a beautiful building, too. I arrived early in the morning and they kindly let me check in early. Everyone on staff, including the volunteers, was friendly and helpful. I really enjoyed my stay and would recommend it :)

The location made it easy to walk to the main park, and the WiFi worked well. The rooms were simple, but the bed was comfortable. Light came in because there were no curtains, and smoke from people smoking outside seeped through the stable-style doors. Music from the hostel next door played techno from about 4 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. and could be distracting. The shared areas had books, board games, and basic cooking supplies, but weren't kept clean. The kitchen and bathroom bins overflowed every day we were there. We also had a power cut and water shortage one day. There are a few tables and chairs in the courtyard, though without lighting it was hard to enjoy being outside at night.

The location was good, the place was nice, and there was even a cute cat 🥰. I was glad they provided plenty of blankets, because the rooms get extremely cold at night. Karaoke next door goes on most nights until 10 or 11 p.m. The staff situation was a bit confusing. I stayed a week and only realized after a couple of days that the foreigners were volunteers. They didn't really talk to us or seem like they were working there 😂. I found it odd that volunteers who don't speak Spanish are taken on, since many guests only spoke Spanish. It should be a requirement. Also, the wind kept blowing open my private room door while I was inside, even with the small lock on 😅.
