There are shops, cafés, and a grocery store about a five-minute walk away. We ate at the hotel most of the time and really liked the food. The rooms have air conditioning, though the humidity can make them feel a little sticky. My family and I had a great stay, and the staff were friendly and accommodating.

My mother and I always get a warm welcome from the staff when we stay here. Prices are lower Sunday through Thursday than on Friday and Saturday, so keep that in mind. The stay includes free breakfast and a drink. There’s a bar downstairs where locals usually hang out, with good music. The hotel has an “Antigua” feel, which I love, and they recently celebrated 100 years. Wi-Fi is only available downstairs if you need to work.

The shower head in the bathroom looks a little worrying: it’s an electric heater, with cables twisted together and poorly insulated. I once heard a story that staff had taken a camera from a room, though I don’t know if it was true and haven’t heard of anything similar since. Otherwise, it’s a pleasant little hotel, nothing fancy, but clean, with friendly staff.
