Hotel Guanaja

Diving here was breathtaking, fishing brought plenty of adrenaline, and we also took active hikes to the waterfall. With the ocean sounds, lovely breeze and birds all around, the setting is stunning and the resort is very well maintained. The cooks are great, too, and the ocean views are beautiful. It’s a perfect place to unwind after city life. They welcomed us so warmly that we felt like we’d found a new family by the time we left. We’ll be back.

The food may have been the best part. I even took one of their pancakes with me across the Caribbean in a to-go wrapper, it was that good. I brought my elderly parents for three nights, and they’re already making plans to return. The trip was full of firsts I won’t forget. The rooms and views are dreamy, and the service was friendly and attentive to details. The hotel exceeded what I expected. It’s an ideal spot for a private, cozy getaway.

This remote stay on Guanaja’s shores makes it easy to unplug and settle into nature’s rhythms. Hotel Guanaja combines simple island living with a touch of mindful luxury. The rooms feel rustic but refined, and the service is warm and attentive. Meals made with local ingredients are comforting and delicious, while the jungle-and-sea setting makes it easy to rest and reflect. I could imagine meditating at sunrise or quietly watching the stars at night. Being so far away from everything helped me reconnect with what matters.

The sunrises and sunsets were amazing, and I even got to relax on the dock swing after an unsuccessful attempt at fishing from shore. The food was excellent and plentiful, with fresh fruit, baleadas and other dishes keeping me full all week. Service alone deserves five stars at Hotel Guanaja. Manager Gabby and her whole staff took great care of us throughout our week-long stay. I’d highly recommend it if you’re visiting Guanaja.
