For a night between flights, Hotel Bethlehem, also often listed as Hostal Bethlehem, worked really well for us. It's close to Ramón Villeda Morales International Airport (SAP), and the hostess was caring and helpful. The place feels more like a guest room in a family home than a regular hotel, so set expectations accordingly. There's no shop or restaurant within walking distance, though we came across a Pulperia in the community with drinks, chips, snacks, and toiletries. The hosts were kind and made things easy. I arrived in the afternoon; the hostess offered to pick us up when we were ready, but we were tired and took a taxi instead. It was a short drive. Our room was spacious and clean, with very good air conditioning, which matters in the heat. The gated community also made it feel safe. They offered to prepare a fresh dinner for a small charge, and it was tasty and convenient. One small complication is that taxi or Uber drivers may have trouble finding the gated community entrance. Still, I'd highly recommend the place for a safe, friendly night before or after a flight.

I arranged the booking through Booking.com, but when I arrived my room wasn't available and I was taken to a different complex. What I got was a boxlike room with no windows or airflow. They quoted breakfast at 150 Lempiras; we paid when it was delivered, then another woman later asked us for 180 Lempiras. One night cost $32. Since then, the owner has kept contacting me through the Bpoking messaging system, claiming I didn't pay the right amount. I've also received numerous insulting emails and haven't been able to get through to Booking. I've made over 45 Booking.com reservations and have never had a host behave so unprofessionally. Don't stay here. It's a one star place with crazy owners.

It served its purpose well for a night between flights: very quiet, secure, spacious, and near the airport, though not especially charming. The owner was really nice, answered our online questions promptly, picked us up very late at night, and took us back to the airport in the morning. That was very convenient. The one letdown was breakfast. It was advertised as included, but there wasn't any because the woman who cooks wasn't there.

I come back here every time I'm in Honduras. The rooms are spotless, the place feels like home, and there's 24-hour security. She can take me places when I need a ride, and rental vehicles are available too. I wouldn't stay anywhere else, and I highly recommend it.
