Hotel Costa Azul County Beach

The pool area was a highlight, and the location worked really well. We stayed five nights. This hotel cost twice as much as the place down the street, where we saw mold on the ceilings and walls and construction behind the sliding doors, so that comparison shaped how I felt about it. The staff were friendly and went out of their way to make the stay pleasant. There are some English speakers, though getting by can be hard if you don't speak Spanish. Google Translate helps. The hotel was very clean, with staff regularly cleaning throughout, except in the restaurant. Tables often had crumbs, we had to ask for silverware after used utensils were taken away, and the charger plates were left on the table, so I wasn't sure how clean they were. The food was very good, and breakfast was included. I don't think they're used to how much coffee Americans drink, lol. Our room was comfortable temperature-wise, but the seating felt like outdoor furniture. The beds were okay and the pillows could have been better. We had very few complaints and would stay again. I gave it five stars for the staff and compared with the first hotel. By American standards, I'd probably call it closer to a 3.5.

The food at the party dinner was a pleasant surprise: it came out hot and was excellent, nothing like the usual hotel banquet meal I'd expected. The owner was there and very friendly. The hotel is in a beautiful spot across from the beach and Caribbean. I didn't get a chance to use the pool, but it looked large and clean. All in all, a beautiful hotel.
