Mr. Tucan Hotel

We had free, easy parking behind the hotel, handy if you have a rental car, and breakfast came with six tasty, filling choices. We spent a long weekend here in January 2026 in Caribbean Suite Room 302. It was spacious with its own balcony, at the center of Half moon bay. Though the hotel is in the middle of the action, we heard no street noise in the back room. The AC air handler above the bed made white noise, and that placement was welcome when we were sunburned because the cold air blew right on us. I hope Mr Toucan adds a spa or jet tub on the mezzanine someday.

They were very flexible about check in and let us into a room early whenever one was available, which I appreciated. The hotel is right on the main beach, and most of the staff were pleasant, though one wasn't. Rooms are large and well appointed, with nice ahava brand toiletries. Some rooms are way out back and quite a climb; the others are fine.

The upstairs gathering area has a great view, and breakfast was included, a perfect start to the day. They also provide beach chairs and towels. The rooms are simple and straightforward. If location is what you're after, this place is right across the street from the beach.

The beach is only about 100 feet away, and it's a nice little place. Room 103 faces the kitchen, though, and the walls are thin. Pots and dishes can wake you at around 0600, so ask for another room if you want to sleep in.
