West Bay Colonial

Breakfast was part of the deal, but there was no choice about what to eat. All the guests were served at 7 in the morning on the pool deck, in a tiny area with three tables that each seated six. The usual meal was two sunny-side-up eggs, two pieces of white toast, and coffee. There was no fruit, jam, or English. Bacon showed up on only two of the seven days, and two pancakes were served on three days. This old hotel was a disappointment.

The location is convenient, but that’s the only good thing I can say. There were no pillows on the bed except two decorative ones, just one washcloth in the bathroom, and the toilet paper wasn’t even put on its holder. The sheets had stains, and the soaps were open and clearly used. There weren’t enough towels for our party either. Four people in one room were expected to share a single towel. When we raised these problems with staff, nobody helped or offered a solution.

I liked the hotel’s atmosphere, and they contacted us right after we booked to ask if we needed a ride. Dana picked us up, and she was amazing and friendly. When my friend and I left, we agreed to split the taxi fare. But once we got to the airport, the driver, Rene, charged us another $20. The vehicle also had no A/C, so I felt pretty much robbed.

The building is nice, but the management was really poor. We spent a four-day weekend there, and it honestly felt like a bad dream. The towels were grey with dark stains all over them, and the cheap soap felt like it wasn’t doing anything. There was no fridge, microwave, dryer, iron, or anything like that. The stairwell and balcony walls were covered in bird poop. Breakfast was horrible, and there was no customer service at all. I wouldn’t recommend this hotel.
