West Bay Lodge

There’s a nice restaurant attached, and we had breakfast there every day. The place has lots of vegetation, spots to relax, and a swimming pool, with shops across the road. There’s also a café/bar, ATM, and dairy. It’s a lovely, relaxing stay not far from the beach, restaurants, and bars.

Roxana was kind and helped save our stay by serving breakfast with a smile a couple of days and checking if my one-year-old needed anything. The boy who cleaned the pool greeted us every morning too. But the other tall, dark woman was very rude. For eight days, she practically threw the dishes and coffee onto the table each morning. One day she came out dressed inappropriately and was constantly gossiping on the phone. The hotel is authentic, and the rooms are nice with all the essentials, but the service made the experience unpleasant. The owner should explain basics like the Wi-Fi access. The codes are printed somewhere in the room, but we didn’t know the same code worked for all connections. We also only found out on our third day that you could rent beach chairs for a full week at bananarama for a decent price. Rooms aren’t cleaned daily either. These things would be fine if guests were told when they arrived. The owner seemed more focused on her pets than her guests. It wasn’t cheap, and I guess you get what you pay for. Next time I’ll go all inclusive, which might end up costing less. I’m Honduran, so I know.

The owner and staff are the special part of this little oasis. Every person we met was friendly and helpful, the grounds were cared for daily, and there was plenty of shade or sun by the pool. Breakfast was very good, and they even offered a fun baleada-making class. Thanks again, Celeste! Our cabin was extremely clean, both queen beds were comfortable, the showers were hot, and the A/C worked perfectly. It’s less than a five-minute walk to the beach, away from the crowds. We couldn’t have asked for a better place to stay in West Bay, and we’ll definitely come back.

Really glad we chose this place. The room was spotless and had everything we needed, and the staff were attentive and friendly. It’s close to the beach, restaurants, two stores, a clinic, and a pharmacy. I’d definitely stay again. Bonus: they have four cats, which I loved. ❤
