West End room

The bar is being used to store broken junk, and the whole place feels worn out. It badly needs renovating.

The room door was a sliding glass one that wouldn't lock. I told the maintenance man, who was lovely and tried his best, but he couldn't fix it. Having to wrestle with the door every time we came or went was frustrating. Our room, #3, was very bare: just a bed and an old TV, with no fridge, complimentary water, safe, clock, or radio. The property also felt isolated. From the front desk, it's a 10 minute walk to the accommodation and breakfast, along a dark gravel road with potholes. The front desk staff at the Splash Inn were kind and attentive, which was about the only other positive. We didn't eat there, though we considered it. One look at the menu and the prices seemed like NYC, where I'm from. For that cost, it wasn't worth it, especially with better options a 5 minute walk in either direction. The place looks nothing like the photos. For $80, it felt like a mediocre hotel that should have been much cheaper. Even US motels at $60 a night have a fridge and coffee maker.

The dorm beds were comfortable, the lockers were spacious, and having a pool was great. The price was good too, with buffet breakfast included. Breakfast could start earlier, though, so people heading out for a morning dive don't have to rush. It's only a 6 person dorm, so don't pay extra for the 4 person option, it's the same room. The location is good, about a 5 minute walk to the beach, but getting to the front desk means a 10 minute walk.

We loved the beautiful grounds and pool, and getting upgraded to a nicer room with a King bed was a treat. The A/C worked well, the staff were really friendly, and it was far enough from the nightlife that our stay was mostly quiet. The room had a strong cleaning product smell on the first day, which made it uncomfortable for me because I'm sensitive to fragrance. Breakfast at the Splash Inn was also a bit of a walk. Our room had a connecting door to the neighbors' room, so it could get very loud when they were talking. For the price, West End Divers was a lovely place to stay and easily worth 5 stars for affordability alone. We liked it so much we'll probably come back :)
