The chef is great, and you can just ask for your meal the way you want it. Get the STEAMED snapper, it's so good it will change your life. We stayed at this lovely boutique hotel, which has 8 rooms right on the beach, within the private Tamarind Community Beach. That setting makes the beach peaceful, quiet, relaxing, and secluded. Big Mike, Randy, William and Christopher were all fantastic and friendly. There's also a separate home for rent above the hotel. I saw Ana from Texas's review and realized she may have rented that house rather than one of the beachfront hotel rooms. It's a great place to stay if you're looking for a peaceful, relaxing experience.

I absolutely loved hosting a yoga retreat here. The Shala and the dock each have a great view, and you get two different perspectives.

I was already planning to leave a poor review because the rooms are so far from the beach. You can take a golf cart, but it's a hassle, and that distance wasn't mentioned when booking. Then, after 10pm, we were left to fend for ourselves. We needed help at 11pm and had to go next door. Their staff were kind, and the security guard helped us move hotels. Xbalanque resort couldn't help us, and its security guard wasn't even on the property. A guesthouse without assistance is one thing, but at almost $300 a night, this was unacceptable. Stay elsewhere.

The WiFi struggled even to load this review, and the bathroom door, made of partial wood slats, gave us no privacy. It was only two feet from my pillow. The rooms don't seem to be part of the hotel, and getting to them meant a fairly strenuous walk in the day and a hazardous one at night. Broken blinds didn't help with privacy, bugs were all over the walls when we arrived, and whenever the neighbors walked, all our furniture shook. We could hear everything they did and said, too. The pictures look nice, but the rooms didn't look like them. These reviews make it sound like a completely different hotel. Don't recommend it.
