The activities weren’t worth what they cost, and the pools were dirty. Parking was scarce, so I ended up leaving the car in mud. Our cabin was filthy and went without water for most of the day. The photos gave a very different impression. My family and I won’t be back.

We all slept really well, and there was plenty to do between the pool, walking around, and relaxing in hammocks. I rented a minibus, which was easy to park at Honduyate, and we took a nice boat ride in the morning. The rooms were clean and did have hot water, which matters a lot. Breakfast was OK, and the menu was fine too. They didn’t have baleadas the morning I asked, so I ordered something else, and the kids were happy with their food. I’d read some bad reviews. The only part I found true was that you can hear trucks, but it’s not like they’re driving past in a parade. We had a great time and will definitely go again.

The boat ride is the one thing I’d recommend. The food was expensive and the portions were small. Most of it tasted strange, except for the fish, though they serve tilapia only, so claims of other fish aren’t true. Skip the desserts, especially the cheesecake. It was nasty.

The property and its location were beautiful, and the staff were friendly and accommodating. Our room was kept very clean. The one issue was the air conditioner. It seemed to freeze up, or maybe it was leaking, and water pooled on the floor.

The lake is beautiful, but it feels like the hotel doesn’t do much with it. The room was dirty, and the restaurant was dirty and miserable too. The typical breakfast was the worst I’ve had. This was the worst hotel I’ve stayed at in Central America.
