We paid more than €3,000 a week, so the condition of the flat and the way problems were handled were especially disappointing. The ground-floor bedroom had such a strong moldy smell that my partner and I moved upstairs after the first night. The owner lives in the building, and several stairwell doors are marked “privat”; the owner and, I think, some family members were around every day. None of that was mentioned in the Airbnb listing, and it left us feeling short on privacy. We were also asked for a €300 cash deposit when we arrived, although that wasn't disclosed in the listing either. One of the pool loungers collapsed when a friend used it for the first time during our stay. The owner charged us €80 and sent a receipt as proof it was new, but it could have been for any chair. Some loungers looked new and others quite old. There was a rule that no more than two people could use the pool at once, or we'd have to pay extra for cleaning, even though the house is for 11 people. The owner replies very quickly to reviews, but after seeing her responses to critical reviews on Google and Airbnb, I wouldn't dare leave a bad one. They come across as gaslighting and full of lies. The most disappointing part is that she clearly thinks people are too stupid to recognize...
