House Elka

We cut our stay short after finding cockroaches on the second day. There were countless young ones and nearly a dozen adults. We were travelling with small children, and that clearly points to unacceptable hygiene. We had planned seven nights but only stayed two. The owners would not agree to a fair solution: they said they had arranged for us to get €400 in cash and that any further refund had to go through Booking. Booking could not help because payment had gone straight to the property. We paid €1,610 for the stay and got back only €400. Finding somewhere else cost another €800, making the holiday unnecessarily expensive. The owner, Mrs. Elka Jozipović, had vacant rooms but refused to move us elsewhere on the property. She was arrogant and unwilling to deal with what had happened, and refused to communicate with us at all. Mr. Mate Jozipović at least tried to be polite. The ground-floor apartment felt like a trip back to the 1970s. The furnishings and equipment were very old, and there was a strong musty smell. The bed sagged so badly that we put the children on it and my wife and I used the extra bed, so we would not end up on the floor overnight. Water barely drained from the bathtub, and exposed wires near the bathroom light did not feel safe. If you want to ruin your vacation, book this place. Photos attached. Definitely do not go there!

The bed was the main reason I can't recommend this place. The rooms are old but usable, which fits the low price. The house hasn't been renovated, and the yard is messy. The location is good, though parking is bad.
