Hotel Kaštil

There’s no blackout curtain, just a see-through white one, and even the outside shutters don’t close properly. You can still be seen from the restaurant downstairs, and the loud music at night and people passing by made it hard to sleep. Some rooms are missing comforters. My daughters asked for some, but were told there were none left and got another paper-thin sheet instead. The room felt like a college dorm, with cheap furniture, towels and linen and no character. The bathroom was very dirty and moldy. Insane!

The air conditioning was the main problem. It barely worked, even after being on full blast for hours, and sleeping after a 35C day was awful with essentially no AC, despite the rooms being advertised with it. The hotel was very clean and acceptable for three stars, in a beautiful part of Bol with lovely harbour views. Once the AC is fixed, I'd recommend it. For now, I won't be back.

All the rooms face the sea and promenade, since the hotel sits right on the seafront. Breakfast was a continental buffet with salads, bruschetta, cheese, ham, eggs and more. Our room had a nice little Juliet balcony. It was perhaps too small to sit on comfortably, but still a nice touch.

The staff were really nice and tried to help with everything, but I wouldn't recommend this hotel. It costs too much for what it offers. The location is nice, but the rooms are very old and breakfast is just okay. There’s no way to make coffee or tea in the room. Coffee is free at breakfast, but otherwise costs extra, and you can't take it to your room even though there's a restaurant. The bar downstairs plays extremely loud music. Parking was the worst part: there's none next to the hotel, and the lot is 15 minutes away and costs 10 euros a day. We were shocked. Guests in the room beside us said their AC wasn't working and nobody came to check it. I guess we were lucky with ours.
