Hotel Maxim

The facilities were poor, and I wouldn’t recommend the breakfast. The massage was okay, but it was hard to relax when people kept walking past because the training studio was open. The service wasn’t great either. Apparently they don’t take cards at the bar. After asking a couple of times, we were able to pay by card, but the whole thing felt extremely awkward. They brought three or four people over to witness us paying. My general advice for travelling in Croatia is to use local currency and avoid paying in euros. They make the conversion they think is right at the time and give you HR back. Always check the price beforehand and ask for a receipt afterward. Try to pay by card, since then they have to give you a receipt. Apart from that, enjoy Croatia! I’ll come back to Bozava, but not to this hotel.

This is about the bike rentals. I hired two bikes, and all the ones they had were in very poor condition. Some had serious mechanical problems. I got a flat tire at Sakarun beach and had to walk the bike back to the hotel for an hour. Don’t rent bikes here. They have a new fleet of e-bikes, but those cost more. I didn’t try them, so I don’t know how good they are.

The beach bar on Saharun beach was a particularly bad experience. The waiter wasn’t attentive and said there were no drink glasses, so we had to drink from bottles. They couldn’t give change, and the music was unpleasantly loud at 11 AM. The chairs had holes in the bottoms. I wouldn’t recommend this beach bar.

The staff were polite and really helpful, and the hotel served good-quality food. A very nice place for a holiday, everything felt perfect.
