Bonavista Brela

Andrej really makes an effort to make your stay as lovely as the setting. He's cheerful and friendly, a perfect host. The views over the straits towards Brac and Hvar, with the Dinaric Alps behind them, are stunning. Brela and Markarska are easy to reach from this beautiful spot in the makarska riveria, and there are lots of beaches within walking distance.

The climb back from the beach is the one thing to bear in mind. It's about 350 steps up to the cottage, or around 1.3 km to reach another beach. That suited me, but it could be hard for someone less active. We had a wonderful time at Bonavistabrela, with breathtaking, almost dreamlike views, quiet, cicadas, and a well placed pool. There's also a lovely spot to sit and eat while watching the views and sunsets. The owner, Andrej, was incredibly kind, friendly, helpful, and easygoing. We'd absolutely come back 🤗🫶

There are several types of accommodation, so it's worth deciding what suits you beforehand. Laundry service is available. The place feels very homey and is wonderfully quiet, with the sea not far away. Andrea is a lovely, accommodating host, and the location works well for day trips to Split or Dubrovnik. The views are breathtaking.

The sea was beautifully clear and turquoise. The stay itself is in a very steep spot, and the area around it is on the quiet side. There was a supermarket nearby, as well as a scooter rental. The gentleman looking after guests was always available and happy to give advice, and the accommodation was fine.
