Haus Am Meer

Zorica and Mirko make sure guests are looked after, from a clean room and carefully prepared breakfast to answering questions and offering recommendations. Their attention to the little things gives Haus am Meer a real family feel. A lovely place to stay, and one I can recommend.

We were very disappointed to end our Croatia trip here. The house and location are beautiful, but I would not recommend the place if you expect helpful service, need reliable wifi, or are uncomfortable with racism. The wifi failed on our first night, and I needed it for work. Zora gave me another network to try, but that failed too on all three of our devices. When I went back downstairs, she had gone to bed. The next day she said she had reset the router and that we were the only guests with problems, but it still did not work. At checkout the following morning, there was a payment misunderstanding because of the language barrier. A few days after we had left Croatia and returned to Canada, Zora emailed me: "Such a gueste is Not for hotel but for staying in Korea". We are of Korean nationality but from Canada. Where someone is from or their ethnicity should not matter, especially at a place that must welcome tourists speaking many different first languages. I found the owner rude and racist, and the staff curt. I wouldn't expect much care or an open ear for questions.

We've stayed with Zora at Haus am Meer several times, both at the beginning and end of island-hopping trips along the coast. She always makes us feel like old friends and seems to go out of her way for us. She especially enjoys chatting with our eldest daughter, who speaks German fluently. We hope to be back soon!

The owners care a lot about the place, and you can see it in the lovingly put-together interior. It's cosy, well kept, and has that feel of coming home. Breakfast is freshly made with lots to choose from, the rooms are clean, and the beds are fine. It's a little above Cavtat's Marina, but only about a 5-minute walk down.
