Remisens Hotel Albatros

The staff were tremendous, especially Natasha and Igor, who went out of their way to make us happy and made our vacation special. The all-inclusive hotel is aging gracefully and has beautiful views. The food, though, wasn’t good.

The ferry to Cavtat leaves from the jetty right outside, which was handy. We took a short break here and found the hotel ideal. Our room was clean and comfortable, with a great balcony. The food was okay, and you’d be very unlucky not to find something to eat. We were all inclusive; the cocktails came premixed, but that was acceptable for a girls’ trip.

We had a nice hotel and a decent room, but sorting out parking was confusing. I was first directed to a public lot about a 10-minute walk away. It had signs listing daily rates, but a local told me it was no longer owned and didn’t need to be paid for. On the way back, I saw empty spaces by the sports court and reception said I could park there. Breakfast and dinner had a good selection, though no fries or pizza, sorry Americans! The coffee machines only worked at breakfast, so coffee after dessert would have been nice. Our room safe was stuck locked. I tried a few ways to reset it, but couldn’t get it working, so I hid my valuables in places that would be easy to leave behind.

Be careful about drink charges here. I asked the bartender whether the drinks were all inclusive, and he said they were. He made them, then demanded 18€ and said we weren’t all inclusive. We’d only asked because we wanted to check, and he’d confirmed it. It felt like a cash grab. There were no prices on the drinks, and nobody explained anything, so you don’t know what you’ll pay. Management didn’t offer to comp the drinks after this really misleading service. The front desk worker made excuses and said, “he is my friend I know he wouldn’t intentionally miss lead you.” I wouldn’t come back and recommend looking elsewhere.
