I had the best holiday ever at Villa royal in Cavtat Croatia. The view from my balcony was amazing, even though it was only a partial view, with forest to my left and below and the sea to the right. Lovely people and a beautiful place to stay. I'll definitely come again. Anita, one of the house keepers, was friendly, thoughtful, considerate and caring, and helped me in ways beyond what I could or should expect from someone in her position. She was informative and spoke very clearly in English. Maria at reception was also very helpful. I only saw Antonio the manager a couple of times, and I missed Mirko the owner. They were all extremely professional throughout. There's a lift down to the seafront in a little hotel about 3 x mins down the road. If you get a chance, Bora works on the seafront selling boat trips and tours into Croatia town, where some of the scenes from Game of Thrones were filmed, and to other islands. You can get a boat to just about any nearby island from him. Bora on the harbour is the man to see for a boat trip around the island or to Dubrovnik. Croatia is well worth visiting, and it's only 2hrs 30 mins away by plane.

Cavtat is an absolutely beautiful village, with excellent non sandy beaches and a good choice of bars and restaurants. This little hotel is well located, no more than 5 minutes from the nearest beach. I spent two weeks here and found it very clean, with daily room service and an excellent buffet breakfast every morning. Mirko, the owner, is welcoming and pleasant. I'd recommend it to anyone who enjoys a good no thrills hotel, and I'll definitely return.

Parking was fine, and the mattress was the most comfortable I had during two weeks in the Balkans. Our host gave us an incredibly warm welcome, and the location is perfect. The rooms and furnishings are a little dated, but comfortable. Bring your own soap and shampoo, as I was glad I had mine. It was a very pleasant surprise and experience, and there's a good chance I'll stay here again if I'm back in the Dubrovnik area.

This made a great base for spending a day in Cavtat, and there are lovely views despite being set back from the shore. You can easily get down using the nearby hotel's elevator. It's only five minutes from Dubrovnik airport, and there's parking. Our clean, comfortable family room was spacious and had AC, a fridge, kettle, TV and balcony, so we could relax before heading on into Croatia, Bosnia and Montenegro. Breakfast had a good choice of cereal, pastries, cold meats and scrambled eggs. Perfect after a late flight, and we'd definitely stop here again when passing through the airport.

Mirko is a gentleman who makes you feel at home and is happy to share any local information you need. The rooms were very clean, breakfast was good, and the balconies, some with very nice views, were a pleasure. It's on a quiet road, but just a short walk to the beaches and town centre. Fabulous place to stay, highly recommended.
