Hostel Crikvenica

The bed was cozy and the balcony looked out over the sea, but the room was smaller than its description led us to expect. We could hear noise from the floor through the door, which did little to block sound. Breakfast was okay, though not what I'd expect from a four-star hotel. Some reception staff were friendly and others weren't; our bags weren't brought to the room, so we had to manage them ourselves. Parking was another problem: the hotel is in the pedestrian zone with almost nowhere to park, and its parking area is about a 15-minute walk outside the city. I wouldn't call this a four-star hotel, and I don't recommend it.

We left without eating after a frustrating exchange with the waiter. We asked for burgers, but he said we had to sit in another section of the restaurant to order them. We also ordered iced tea, expecting something like Lipton, Nestea, Fuze Tea, or even a local brand such as Jana. What arrived was clear water with a terrible taste. When we said it wasn't iced tea, he insisted that it was and walked off. He later returned to show us the stick he'd stirred some “concentrate” with. That wasn't real iced tea. Then he told us to move back to our original area and pick a different drink. One person, probably the waiter, ruined the whole visit. It was the worst restaurant experience I've ever had.

Everyone else was wonderful, and the pizza was good, but the woman at reception working around 22:00 on 9 July was extremely rude. I know her name, but don't want to write it here. When the system wasn't working, she had a really bad attitude. If you can't be nice to people, you shouldn't work in service. Shame on you.

I went to get coffee for my wife and me to take away. The waiter, Igor, tossed two cookies in front of me and said I needed them because I was fat. It was especially rich coming from him, since he's also old and fat. Someone this rude has no place working as a server. If the owner has any sense, he'll fire him.
