Hotel Kastel

We checked out early, and it was none too soon. The photos fooled me: the dining room doesn't look like that, and there were no flowers or the other things shown in the pictures. The food was horrible and inedible. Our “superior” room wasn't superior, so they moved us, but the new room was just as bad, with mold at the bottom of the shower curtain. There was no air conditioning, and the hot water kept coming and going. The bed was either lumpy and too soft or too hard. And the supposed free parking wasn't free. What a lie.

The room and meals were good, but I had a bad experience with the morning lobby staff and the lady manager. I had emailed my card number the day before, yet they asked me for a card without checking. They threatened that I couldn't leave. They later confirmed they'd received the email but didn't apologize. I'll never come back.

The location is excellent, with the town centre, bus station, and beach all within a three-minute walk. It's a nice three-star hotel converted from an old monastery. The rooms have old-fashioned decor, but everything is clean and functional. Staff were friendly, service was very good, and the food was okay.

The building looks beautiful from outside, the setting is great, and the staff are friendly. Our room was clean, but it felt outdated and was uncomfortable in the cold weather. It was 10°C outside, and cold air came in through windows that wouldn't close properly. The heating wasn't working, and they said they couldn't turn it on. The beds were very uncomfortable for us. We could hear everything in the corridor, including noisy footsteps and doors that couldn't be closed quietly, since there was no soundproofing. Breakfast was very poor each day, especially with no vegetables at all. Dinner was much better. This hotel could be a lot better, and I hope it will be.
