The pool closes at 10:00 PM, and the air conditioning is set to only 24 degrees, with an extra charge for constant use. The owner lives at the property and is always around, checking on you and scolding you for everything. You have to buy your own toilet paper, and although the apartment is advertised for six people, two adults have to sleep on an uncomfortable sofa.

We’ve been coming back for years. It’s a lovely little place with fair prices, clean, nice rooms, and a thoughtful host.

The garden and pool were decent, and the house itself was okay, but calling it a Party House needs a big asterisk. We were guests at a birthday party at Party House, Mala Jazbina 72, Samobor, across the street from where the Partibrejkers live. There are regular homes across the road, not just weekend houses, and the neighbors clearly don’t want a party every weekend. Around 11 PM, two police officers came by after a neighbor called. They were polite and warned us to quiet down, or they’d be called back and would have to file a report about disturbing the peace. One officer said he was at this address most weekends, more often than he was home, which told us plenty. So if you’re planning to make noise, you’ll need to turn the volume down after about 10 PM. Choir practice with a guitar and a push-button can work until then, anyway. There’s also no usable internet at the house, just enough signal for a 0.5G call. Deezer, Spotify, Mix/Soudcloud and other streaming won’t work unless you bring a better LTE router, like my colleague did as a precaution. Bring music on MP3s, CDs, LPs, singles or cassettes, along with something to play them on. The pool and garden are fine, but this is more like an after-work party from 4 to 10, then watching Gruntovčane on YT. I can’t say whether the price was fair since I don’t know what the “organizing committee” paid. If anyone needs to know, ask the owner. He could use a seawall and a few kilos of internet from one of the providers. Two stars feels pretty harsh.
