I gave it one star because zero wasn’t an option. The photos don’t show what a pit this place is. The bathroom was moldy, with a dirty mop and filthy sink. There’s no AC, just a small ceiling fan in the main room. The only window was blocked from any breeze by a wall, and it was 82°F while we were there. The steps up and then down into the next room are a serious hazard if you have even slight mobility issues. Whoever cleans the place needs to move the furniture once in a while. We shifted a bed to the middle of the room so my wife could get a little air and found a herd of dust bunnies big enough to take on a Dire Wolf. There were potato chip crumbs on the kitchen floor too. The only couch looks like it was picked up off the curb 50 years ago, and the old, rickety table with three chairs was too shabby even to leave on the curb. This place would make a New York flop house seem luxurious.

We got a two-bedroom apartment for what some room-only rentals cost, so it was great value. There were two big balconies where we could keep our bikes, and parking was available at the place, with free street parking if you need more. The host was really nice and knew the city well.

The place was really dirty, with dust everywhere, on the lamps, bed and sofa. The shower was covered in black fungus. There was no shampoo or soap, and we got three dirty, ripped towels for our stay. The kitchen utensils were old, dirty and broken, and there were leftovers on the dining table.

Really nice host, and the place is awesome. I’d definitely recommend it to anyone visiting Dubrovnik.
