We were relieved to find somewhere in the center and ended up being glad we never stayed here. The owner was inconsiderate and money hungry, and there are too many stairs. We loved Epidaurus instead, so check that place out. I booked over a month ahead, then realized right away that I'd entered September instead of August. I contacted them as soon as I noticed. We even went to the property to explain in person, but nobody was there. We weren't cancelling the day before; the reservation was still a month away, and if there had been availability when we arrived in Dubrovnik, we wouldn't have needed to cancel. They refused to refund us and kept the full cost of the three-night stay, even though it was an honest mistake. We host too, and we've never kept someone's money when things happen beyond their control, cancellation policy or not. We always refund travelers. I also work in the hotel industry, where we would keep the first night's charge and refund the rest. They could have rebooked a reservation made a month in advance, even if they kept the cost of one or two nights and returned one night to us. We've never cancelled a reservation before, and we're a well-travelled couple. I hope keeping my money helps them financially. As my other host in Epidaurus said, $200+ isn't much money in Dubrovnik to keep when it doesn't belong to you.
