Hostel Petra Marina

The hostel is good value and well located, about five minutes on foot from the port. There’s a local bus stop for the terminal, or you can walk there in 13 minutes. I used my 2 day Dubrovnik pass for a free bus ride to the bus terminal. In the spacious 4 bed mixed dorm, the curtained bed had its own light and AC. Lockers fit large luggage, and hangers were provided. Cam hangs laundry outside on the balcony, where it dries overnight.

The location was pretty good, and breakfast was acceptable. The shower felt very small. The young guy at the front desk was consistently rude, though the girl was always polite.

AC was much needed in summer, and the balcony had amazing views. The place felt perfect. Rooms, showers, and the WC were clean, with modern beds, curtains, fresh bedclothes, an outlet, and a little lamp at each bed. I appreciated that a towel was included too.

The beds were comfortable, with several power connections at each one, storage space in the cabin, and good-sized lockers. But after three days, I was glad to leave. The welcome was cold and it never improved much; most of the staff seemed unhappy to be there. I think that affected the social side, which felt lacking. There were places to mix and mingle, but most people kept to themselves. The flimsy blinds on the cabins were loud to open at night, so curtains would be much better. Bathrooms and kitchen could also be a lot cleaner. Plenty of guests didn’t clean up after themselves, which isn’t the hostel’s fault, but staff never said anything. The shower cabins needed a deep clean: they were moldy, the drains stank, and the water temperature kept changing, making it hard to get a decent shower. For the price, I think you can find better elsewhere.
