Hostels in Dubrovnik can be a good-value way to stay near the sights, especially with hotel accommodation having become so expensive. Many are within an easy walk or bus ride of the UNESCO-listed Old Town, the walls, and popular beaches, so getting around on foot is simple. Staff are often helpful with local tips and may assist with tours or transport, and shared areas are good for meeting other travellers. Just be ready for basic facilities: dorms can be noisy, bunks may squeak, and kitchens can be minimal. Some places are farther out or have long check-in and check-out times, so plan ahead. Cleanliness varies but is generally fair, and Wi-Fi may be better in common spaces than in the rooms. For backpackers wanting to save money and meet people, it’s a solid option, as long as you expect basic comforts and remember Dubrovnik still isn’t cheap.

The hostel’s location is perfect and its vibe fits Dubrovnik really well. My private room was very clean, but tiny. That may just be the way the old-town building is laid out, but be prepared: there’s no room to open your luggage, and the shared bathroom is outside the room. The bathrooms were clean and close by, though.

The rooms were clean, and each bed had its own fan, which helped on a hot summer night. The hostel is in a perfect spot, and the man at reception was friendly, funny, kind, and helpful. Bring earplugs and an eye mask since it’s a hostel, and you should sleep well.

I wouldn’t recommend this place. My friend paid the owner in cash, and when I asked for a receipt he said he didn’t want to deal with me. He was really rude. He seems to have some mental issues.
