Soleil Luxury Rooms Old Town Dubrovnik

We were very satisfied with our stay. The room was spacious, clean and nicely decorated, and the location right in the heart of the old city is fantastic. It would be better with a coffee machine and some kitchen cleaning supplies, like a tea towel and detergent.

The room was tiny, which we expected, but there was nowhere to put luggage or clothes: no hangers, hooks, wardrobe, rack or drawers. For one night before our cruise it was fine, but a longer stay would have been frustrating if you wanted to unpack. The hostess was very nice and communicated well, and we soon got used to finding the place, though it was confusing at first, as can happen in Old Town. The location is excellent, just steps from the centre of the Strada, and the restaurant across the street was lovely and convenient. Getting there through Buza Gate was a mistake because of all the steps down. Use Pile gate instead, with only a few steps up to the street from the Strada. If location is all you need and you’re fine with minimal amenities and living out of your suitcase, it could work. Otherwise, keep looking. We wouldn’t stay again.

This felt like a random room in someone’s home, not a hotel. I arrived at 4pm during the stated check-in window, but nobody was there. I rang the bell repeatedly, then called through the booking app. Someone answered and shouted instructions for getting inside and finding the room. The host never contacted me or gave me instructions, and I never met them. Checkout was just as unclear, so I left the keys in the room without knowing what else to do. The room was dirty, bare-bones and didn’t look like the photos. It had no basic items like bathroom soap, and the bed was so small the blanket couldn’t cover me, though I’m not a big guy. There was a foul smell that made coming back into the room painful. The walls were very thin, so I could hear every word and feel every step from the other rooms. The people next door threw a party and brought lots of guests over, and with no host on site, nobody stopped it. I’m glad it was only one night in February and didn’t cost too much.

The city views were amazing, and our room was perfect. There’s also an amazing restaurant just three feet from the front door. Such a beautiful place.
