Albatross Mobile Homes on Camping Bijela Uvala

Camping Bijela Uvala is enormous, almost a little town, with activities and facilities for all sorts of visitors. Where you stay can shape the experience. We had a Luxury Mare pitch, which was spacious and quiet, with its own water and electricity, and worked well for families with children. Everything was spotless, from the beaches and clear sea to the showers and restrooms. Staff around the campsite were consistently welcoming, helpful and friendly, which was a real highlight. There’s lots to do for all ages, plus several restaurants, bakeries and cafés with live music. Our favorite was Bungy Café, great atmosphere and service. If you’re bringing a tent, the ground is hard and rocky, so getting pegs in can be a challenge. We’ll bring a small drill next time. It’s also very dog-friendly, with a dog beach, a dog shower, pets allowed almost everywhere, and waste bag stations around the site. At times you may hear Dutch parties nearby, though not inside the campsite, as well as some lively teenagers. It’s part of the summer atmosphere, but light sleepers should pack earplugs. Highly recommended for families, couples and anyone after a clean, well-kept, lively seaside camping trip.

The campsite itself is nice and well-equipped, with good water access and an island with a beach nearby. It’s one of the pricier places, but we’ve always stayed right by the water. The “Free camping” zone is a good idea. The noise is the dealbreaker. Loud music carries through here nearly every day from 8:30 PM until 1:00 - 2:00 AM. It’s so loud it feels like a concert, with a trash playlist of Dutch songs, ruining both sleep and a quiet evening. I can put up with it Friday or Saturday, but Monday? With that going on, it’s definitely not a family campsite at night. Maybe during the day. We won’t be back.

Kids seem to have a good time here, thanks to all the activities, the shop and the good showers. But the campsite has one major problem: it doesn’t enforce its own rules. People smoke and eat in the pool, and there’s no control over behavior at night either. There were people making a lot of noise at 4AM, then a petrol leaf blower was already cleaning at 6:30AM. The smaller but still annoying issue is cash. Everything you want to do, eat or drink has to be paid for in cash, so you have to carry it around and keep it hidden. Why? The campsite earns 4,95 euro every time you withdraw money at its ATM. That’s lucrative for them and unpleasant for the rest of us. The children’s experience is why I give it a third star.

There’s plenty for children and teens to do, and the services, showers and toilets are very new and good. The campsite is clean but huge and crowded. It’s a long walk to the pools or beaches, which isn’t really my kind of campsite, though I can’t fault the place for that. Activities are overpriced, at least 15% more than outside the campsite.
