Nina was the standout during my stay. She runs the place herself, as far as I could tell, and was capable, kind and quick to help. Her breakfast deserves special praise too: beautifully presented, with a great selection and plenty of food. The rooms are kept clean and tidy, and the bathroom, bar and lounge were in good order as well, despite apparently being looked after by just one person. There are a few things that need attention. The bathroom window’s outside shutters are torn and damaged, with one panel missing. The board by the front door still lists phone numbers for an employee who left a long time ago, and doesn’t include Nina’s number. The coffee machine doesn’t work properly, so the coffee is pretty bad. I also don’t think dogs and other animals should be brought into areas where guests eat, especially when their hair ends up everywhere, even on plates. Please fix these issues if you want me to keep staying here. I’m in Istria for business 2-3 days a month. I have nothing but praise for Nina herself. Dubravko Horvat

The only reason for the one star is the Croatian man who opens the B&B. He was very friendly and helpful, though there’s only so much he can do, apparently because of the Belgian owner. As for the Yellow Room, it’s a tiny old cabin in the garden that the owner has turned into a room to make more money. At 100€ a night, you get a space so small you can’t even open your luggage, an ice-cold shower in the morning, and an old fridge just one meter from the foot of the bed that makes enough noise to keep you awake. The Belgian owner wasn’t there. Maybe he was busy counting all the money he makes from the B&B. If you stay a night in the Yellow Room and meet the owner, you might feel like punching him in the face. That’s how bad spending the night in the Yellow Cabin was. I’m not even willing to call it a room anymore.

I only visited the Bar, and I’m really sorry I couldn’t come back. It’s a great place, tucked behind a wall away from the many tourists. Maryana (from Cakovets), I hope You read this message. :)
