The room was the biggest problem for us. We had room nr. 5, which is so cramped you can barely open the balcony door and walk past the bed. The bathroom door can't open all the way because it hits the toilet, and the tiny sink is wedged between the wall and shower. In the morning, if you forget your shoes, watch your toes. The drain also smells awful almost every time you flush. The old spring mattress is noisy, and there's no proper sheet, just a very slippery plaid that bunches up so you wake up lying on the mattress. Breakfast was a bit sad. There was one kind of white bread, partly left over from dinner, one kind of jam and butter, some cheese and ham, cucumber and tomatoes, and a few tiny bits of something that might have been pate. They had cornflakes, oatmeal, yogurt and boiled eggs. It was enough to fill up, but fresh pastries, a little variety in the cereals, and some fruit would've been nice. Croatia has great sweet and savory breads, so it's a shame not to see them at a hotel. Dinner gave us three main dishes to choose from, but they weren't like the food in the main restaurant. It was more like a school kitchen, with lots of olive oil and all-purpose seasoning. I wouldn't call it especially bad, but the soups tasted almost identical, the salad was just chopped tomatoes or cabbage, and on the first day dessert was a banana. The fries were good. The view and beach in front of the pension are nice, but that's not enough. I don't mind older buildings or furniture, or not having a TV, since I'm out most of the day. But for the three stars we thought we'd booked, I expected a certain standard and hygiene. There were missing things like furniture, a drinking glass, and a TV, and they flipped over a messy tablecloth instead of putting on a clean one. There was no hot water on the first day and again at midday. Seriously? We were spending a week at this 3* pension, and I thought the main restaurant food was probably great, even if guests eat upstairs and get different food. This just doesn't feel like a 3* place, even by the standards for this kind of accommodation. EDIT: Apparently the pension is 2*. Our travel agency gave us the wrong information.
