B&B Artegnana 1798

The view from the terrace is spectacular, which only made the rest of our visit more disappointing. We stopped for drinks at the bar, then had dinner downstairs. We weren't staying at the B&B. There were no menus on the tables, so we couldn't see drink prices until later. The young waiter took our first order and then seemed to forget we were there. The terrace wasn't busy, but we had to find him when we wanted another drink. He was chatting with friends instead of checking on us or changing the ashtray. When we were the last people outside and felt hungry, we asked him where the restaurant was. He barely glanced over and pointed the way. We were tired and didn't want to look elsewhere, so we went down. Only one other couple was dining, yet we waited a few minutes for menus. The truffle fuži, an Istrian pasta, was very bland, a real shame in a region known for its truffles. Part of our order was missed. He apologized, but we were the only guests there, and it seemed easy enough to write the order down. Later his friends joined him, and their laughter and sports talk made us feel as if we'd wandered into somebody else's private party, while we were paying guests. Staff should be able to relax and have friends around, but it can be done without making guests feel ignored. It was an unpleasant visit, and we won't return.

We had a lovely stay at this B&B, right in the city center with incredible views. The room was wonderful, with a very large shower and even a bidet. It was spotless and stocked with everything we needed: towels, slippers, lotions, shower gel, a shower cap, and a bathrobe. The bed was very comfortable, and there was a controller to set the room temperature. Breakfast was excellent both mornings, with fruit, eggs, pancakes, coffee, water, and tea. The front office and restaurant staff were so helpful and greeted us with big smiles. We had a wonderful time and really recommend it.

The patio and its views were lovely, and everyone was gracious with us. Service was excellent. We loved staying here.

Breakfast was great, and the location couldn't be better. Everything was perfect.
