Vila Lacman

The friendly owner Lena provided two beach towels. For the beach, we found Villa Dinka and its steps down to the shore the best route. Getting here from the port means climbing steps, so with luggage a taxi from konzum supermarket is a good idea, about $20. There’s no Uber. There’s no coffee in the apartment or a cafe nearby, so bring your own.

The rooms are looked after daily and were comfortable and well maintained, with balconies, a small fridge, breakfast utensils, and air conditioning. There’s a first aid kit by the door, and usually a cat nearby. The place feels like it has everything you need. It’s a family home turned into a hostel, far enough from the centre to get away from the party music but still only a short walk from the lovely coastline. The owners are kind and available without hovering. They’ll share stories about the country and their lives, find you a cup of tea, or suggest things to see and do. In November, you might even get free lemons from the tree growing over the well-equipped kitchen and barbecue, both available for guests to use. A real treat any time of year.

We booked through expedia and had no problems at all. The rooms were clean, parking was uncomplicated, and the centre was about a five minute walk away if you take the side streets.

We spent four nights at Villa Lacman and would definitely recommend it. The room was spotless, with a lovely balcony and great views. Restaurants and the marina are all within a five to ten minute walk. Thanks so much for having us. Mikel and Poppy
