Villa Marijeta Hvar

We had a fantastic week at Villa Marijeta in June, staying in one of the apartments with my seven friends from Scotland. It was clean and spacious enough for all of us, and our balcony looked over the pool, which we practically had to ourselves all week. Marina, the owner, and Christian at the pool bar were both friendly and helpful. Christian made us lovely sandwiches and drinks while we relaxed there, and suggested some great restaurants, beaches, and nightlife around Hvar. We'd highly recommend it and hope to return soon!

We stayed two nights at this place, now called APARTMENTS NIKSA HVAR, and it was a very bad experience. I can't recommend it under any circumstances. The treatment was the worst part. They don't have a POS terminal for charging extra services by card, and blamed us as if we were criminals. They kept us there, threatened to call the police, and wouldn't let us into the apartment to sleep for an hour at 2am. There was shouting too. We had requested an extra person through Booking, which they denied, but then asked for 100€ in cash for the two nights. That seemed excessive, especially as the first night that person had no sheets, pillow, or towels. They wanted the payment outside Booking and in cash, possibly to avoid Booking's fees and taxes. We had no cash, and they made us wait outside instead of letting us rest and collecting payment at checkout like other accommodations. There were cockroaches in our room in the morning. The rooms were humid and quickly smelled bad, and the beds were very uncomfortable. Towels were tiny, thin as cigarette paper, rough, and poor quality. Bathrooms had no soap or shampoo, so we had to buy our own. The first aid kit wasn't in good condition, and after I had an accident they suggested washing the injury with tequila. There was no privacy. A watchman monitored the terrace at all hours, even at night, to make sure we didn't go beyond its limits. We weren't allowed on the terrace after 22h, even in total silence, and no one had warned us of this before we booked. We couldn't even have dinner there. The person at the night reception drinks while on duty. The pool bar prices were completely abusive, and it's a long walk to the center.

The owner came by every night at 10pm telling us to be quiet, so I can't recommend this for younger people. The photos looked completely different from what we got: the bathroom was tiny and filthy, the room was far too small for three guys, and the mattress was dirty. The receptionist was pretty rude too. For the price, it could've been fair value if all that hadn't happened during our stay.

AVOID AT ALL COSTS This was the worst place I've ever stayed. The staff were rude and really weird. They kept knocking on our door all night to complain about noise that wasn't happening. We had no music and weren't even loud. They also accused me, a 37-year-old mother, of going into other rooms and terrorising people. We checked out early the next day. There were live wires hanging out of the bathroom wall, and the place felt more like a hostel. The sheets were dirty. Checking out was the right call, because we found Harietta villas, where everyone was much nicer and more accommodating.
