Hotel Carlstadt

It's a no-frills place, but the rooms are affordable and clean, the breakfast is really good and included, and the bed was very comfortable. The staff were great too. I've stayed at Hotel Carlstadt at least four times over the years and enjoyed each visit. My last stay was in early November of 2022, and I'll definitely book it again when I'm next back in Croatia.

The hotel is right in the centre, and the rooms are old-fashioned but okay. The reception took our IDs and didn't return them until we asked a few hours later. The AC takes a good while to cool the room and isn't very powerful. If you don't expect too much, it may suit you.

The location is really good, with everything close by and a bar downstairs. But the bedroom had an old smell, probably from carpets that have been there for years. The TV signal didn't work, and the electrical brackets were coming loose.

The location is great, within walking distance of restaurants, Caffe bars, shops, the tourist info centre, and transport. Staff have always been friendly and helpful, mostly with English speakers. I've stayed at Carlstadt three times, twice in the same room four years apart, and once in the adjacent room on this visit. For a 3 star hotel, don't expect luxury, but the rooms are clean, the beds are comfortable, and there are useful basics like a small TV, air con, and a bar fridge. This time the fridge didn't work and the bathroom sink plug mechanism was missing. It didn't affect our overnight stay, though I'd have quickly asked to change rooms if we'd been staying longer. Breakfast is basic, but it's included and should keep you from going hungry. I recommend this place.
