Apartment House Jerko

The pool was the best part for us. The owner cleaned it in the morning, so it couldn’t be used on those days. I think doing that in the evening would have avoided disturbing guests. The water also splashed around, though he was quick to clean it every five minutes. His children and their friends used the pool in the evening, jumping in from above and splashing water over the fence. That was apparently fine, but if a guest got out without washing off the water, he’d appear and explain that the splashing was an accident. The owner and his parents live downstairs. They seem very nice at first, but as the days pass they make your life miserable. I couldn’t walk past without one of them saying something to me. They don’t speak English and always spoke in their own language, which we didn’t understand, so communication was difficult. The rooms are tiny, especially the bathrooms, which aren’t shown in the photos. Parking is also difficult, with cars packed close together. I don’t recommend it, and I won’t come back to the area. The city was horribly dirty, as were the water and beach, which was disappointing, though that part isn’t about the accommodation rating.

The owners were really friendly and nice, and we could use the pool and grill any time of day without a problem. It’s close to the beach and to beautiful Kaštela. Great place to stay, we’d love to return.

The rooms are tiny and don’t match the photos, and the owner’s behavior made the whole atmosphere unpleasant. It felt like we had to stay quiet, avoid the pool and be in bed by 8 PM. The pool water was often cloudy, which made me wonder if they were saving on filtration. We stayed for 10 days. She was meant to send us tips about places to visit, but nothing came during our stay. Towels were meant to be changed every three days, yet they were only changed once, on day eight. Bed linen was also meant to be changed, but after six days it still hadn’t been. I think on day five she banned swimming because the children had splashed too much the day before while jumping in and playing volleyball. I don’t recommend this place.

We’ve stayed at Apartment House Jerko twice now and felt very comfortable both times. It’s clean, quiet and well equipped, and the airport is easy to get to. The hosts are friendly and helpful, and they drove us to the airport on both visits.
