The calm, beautiful setting was one of the best parts of Baletna Škola in Kaštela. There’s outdoor dining beside a lovely park between the restaurant and the sea, and the atmosphere felt peaceful and inviting. We chose it after seeing all the positive reviews. The food was decent overall, though it didn’t meet the high expectations we’d brought with us. We tried shrimp, pasta, and chicken dishes, and none was especially memorable. The grilled vegetables, though, were truly excellent. Maybe we didn’t pick the dishes that show the kitchen at its best, but with a 15-page menu, you’d expect every option to reach a certain standard. The size of the menu felt a bit overwhelming and ambitious, and could make consistency harder. Prices were a little above the local average, but plenty of locals were dining there and there were very few tourists, which added to the authentic feel. Service was average: nobody was unfriendly, but the staff could have been more attentive and efficient given the reputation and prices. We also had some mild stomach discomfort afterward. We hope it wasn’t related to the restaurant, but thought it was worth mentioning.

The seafood plate was generous and tasty, though we had to order fries separately since they weren’t included. I came with my parents after hearing other people’s opinions, and we were glad we did. The spaghetti with smoked salmon and shrimp was awesome, especially with the handmade pasta. The service was kind and helpful. We’ll definitely be back for dessert.

The outdoor dining area is gorgeous, with trees and plants all around, and it’s easy to see why this restaurant was recommended. I had the black cuttlefish risotto with mixed salad and sparkling water. The risotto was delicious, and the salad was fresh and crunchy. Service was efficient, but felt unfriendly and inhospitable, even somewhat hostile.

We were a group of about seven, with even larger groups there too, but our meals arrived in only about 30 minutes. Drinks came promptly as well, and we didn’t wait long when ordering more. The staff were friendly and the service seemed well organized to me. Prices are acceptable, and it’s a good spot if you like fresh fish.

Baletna Škola has a beautiful seaside view and a fantastic atmosphere. The food is incredibly tasty, with Croatian flavors that really stand out, and the prices feel very reasonable for the quality. It’s a popular place, so I’d book a table at least two days ahead. If you’re nearby, it’s a must-visit!
