Hotel Kraljevica

Dinner had no options and wasn’t very good. The soups seemed to be Maggi or Knorr. Two of the three receptionists weren’t helpful, and their foreign-language skills weren’t good enough. What bothered us most was how aggressive, intolerant, and unreasonable they were with guests. Perhaps they don’t like Hungarians. They eventually helped, but only after we asked several times, and they didn’t seem pleased even when our questions were reasonable. We didn’t want to annoy anyone, but they got very nervous whenever we asked something.

Leaving was the only good part. There was no parking or restaurant, and the place felt like a construction site. Reception was just a door opening into a jumble room. It was nothing like the description, and the worst place I’ve ever had the misfortune to book through Booking.com.

The bed is old and the furniture basic, but it’s fine for a night or two if you book a room with air conditioning. Breakfast is even more basic, and the waitresses seem unhappy and aren’t helpful. The stay would be better if the hotel staff smiled.

The staff were friendly, but this cheap hotel has a lot to fix. The beds feel like cardboard, and the linen seems years old. Breakfast is horrible. There’s little ventilation and no AC, so it gets very hot at night. In rooms with a shared bathroom, the showers are badly outdated, with cracks in the floor and no hook or shelf for shampoo, soap, or clothes. I think the hotel needs a major renovation and a new investor.
