La Villa Lopud 1483

We spent two nights here, and had the best meals of our island stay. The sunset views were beautiful, the wines fantastic, especially the house red from Slavonia, and the service was impeccable. Both waiters were attentive and kind, and they even treated us to two complimentary shots on our last night. As a vegetarian, I started with hummus and a cheese board, then had the asparagus risotto and pest spaghetti. My wife had the hot sticks and tuna carpaccio to start, followed by blue cheese steak one night and veal steak the other. We finished both nights with chocolate cake that was out of this world.

A wonderfully cute little place right in the centre of the main stretch, with amazing ocean views and glorious sunrises to wake up to. The staff are great, really hospitable, and nothing seems too much trouble. It makes a pleasant change from the island's big hotel. I'll be back!

The view was gorgeous, and I somehow forgot to photograph the food. The new owners and chef have been there for a year, and apparently the chefs trained with Michelin. We had one of the best meals of our week between Dubrovnik and Lopud. The cooking is modern and fusion-style, with reasonable prices, and the service was excellent.

The terrace right by the sea is lovely, and the restaurant and bar feel really cozy. Service was superb.
