The restaurant is where the experience fell short. The choices were limited and repetitive, with much the same kinds of meat and fish almost every day. I expected more variety and creativity from a five-star hotel. Drinks also cost extra with half board, including water. I don’t understand why water is free in the wellness area but has to be paid for at dinner. Outside the restaurant, it’s a beautiful hotel with a great location, modern rooms of just the right size, friendly staff and a really nice wellness area. The facilities and service feel like a proper five-star stay, but the restaurant left a much poorer impression.

The rooftop bar has a breathtaking view, but we only went once because the service wasn’t very good. We would’ve visited more if it had been better, but instead we stayed downstairs or went elsewhere for a drink. Our room was very clean and tidy, though we had to ask reception for refreshments after missing them for two days in a row. Most of the staff were lovely and welcoming, especially at reception, and Kristina was amazing. I had an incredible stay overall, would highly recommend the place, and will probably stay again.

There’s a pretty walkway into Makarska town centre that takes about 30 minutes, with cafes, bars and restaurants along the way and in town. The old streets are quaint, with art galleries, boutiques and cafe-bars, and boat trips leave for Hvar and Brac. The hotel has plenty to keep different age groups happy, plus a small private beach for guests in front. The hotel is fairly new and modern, on the outskirts of Makarska, with a good location. The sea-view bedroom and rooftop bar have superb views. Our bedroom was huge, comfortable and spotlessly clean, as was the rest of the hotel. Service was generally good, but the breakfast queues for coffee were frustrating, and the buffet wasn’t stocked well enough for demand. Dinner was disappointing, with a lot of lukewarm and often overcooked food. I’d suggest booking bed and breakfast, since there are good restaurants nearby.

The spa was a real highlight for us. We had several massage sessions and were impressed by the quality of the treatments and the whole spa experience. Our family had a wonderful stay with two children. The food, cleanliness and attentive service were all outstanding, as were the kids’ animation program and evening entertainment. The hotel surpassed our expectations, and we’re sure to return. Highly recommended!
