The host was defensive and dismissive when we raised concerns, with little willingness to cooperate or respond with care or flexibility. We left feeling unwelcome and disappointed. A holiday should have been relaxing, not an argument about basic comfort and cleanliness. The living room air conditioning didn’t work, leaving the apartment uncomfortably hot by day and night. The unit was visibly dirty inside, clearly not properly cleaned or maintained, which raised serious hygiene concerns. One double bed was only 130 cm wide, far too small for two adults to sleep comfortably. That doesn’t meet standard hotel or apartment expectations and would be especially difficult for taller or plus-size guests. I rarely leave negative reviews, but this stay was disappointing on several levels and not the holiday we hoped for.

The bay view was beautiful, but the rest of the stay was very disappointing. The apartment listing on Booking said it could accommodate four people, yet it barely fit three. There weren’t enough dishes, and the “third bed” was a narrow 1.3m sofa in the living room. Outside temperatures ranged from 32 to 38 degrees centigrate. The owner added a fan and an air mattress, but that wasn’t what we expected for the price. The air conditioning was old, dirty, and barely worked. The owner said repairs would take 20 days and seemed unaware of how poor its condition was. The promised dinner never arrived. Housekeeping changed the towels but didn’t unclog the sink. The owner also claimed to Booking that payment hadn’t been received, even though we had paid, then cancelled the reservation after our stay without any right to do so. It seemed intended to stop us leaving a Booking review, and caused extra stress and frustration. The property replied to my review, so I’m answering that response. Thank you for replying, though we regret that it is one-sided and contains several factual inaccuracies. We paid on June 19, and the funds were successfully charged to the card. We sent confirmation to both Booking.com and you directly. The reservation clearly showed a stay from July 2 to July 7. If payment hadn’t gone through, we wouldn’t have received the apartment keys. Saying the reservation was cancelled because payment was invalid is simply false. We’re happy to publish proof of the transaction if necessary. The booking was for four adults, as the confirmation clearly stated. Nobody books for “3.5 people” when travelling as four adults. From the start, we said we needed proper sleeping arrangements for four independent adults. A 130 cm-wide bed doesn’t meet standard hospitality norms for two adults. Widely accepted hotel and tourism guidelines across the EU and beyond set a minimum width of 140 cm for a double bed for two adults. If any of us were plus-size, sharing this bed would have been physically impossible, raising serious concerns about inclusivity and comfort standards. It’s unfortunate that you can’t acknowledge this shortcoming. That refusal isn’t elegant or professional. We had hoped for a more constructive and honest approach. I don’t recommend the place and advise others to think twice before booking.

The port location was great, and the top-floor one-bedroom was spacious, with a large sofa bed and amazing views. Restaurants are close by. The kitchen had no coffee cups, and the bath was quite high, making it a safety hazard to climb out. We stayed one night, though two would have been nicer. An upgrade would be welcome.

The apartment was old and outdated, and the bed was the worst part. It was so worn out you sank through it and hurt your back. There was a live music stage just 25 meters away, playing what sounded like junkie DJ music until 02.00 AM. The whole apartment shook and banged. The 24 inch TV had no local or cable channels, only a couple of German ones. The hair dryer was broken, with a hole in it. My girlfriend’s hair got caught and was ripped out. There was silverware for only three people in an apartment for four, so one of us had to wait until someone else finished eating. Silverware costs 20 euros to buy. At this very high price, I’d definitely stay elsewhere.
