We ended up in holiday rental Adriona for six nights during high season after our other booking fell through. It cost less than the original option, and the owners were so friendly and helpful. When I asked about restaurants, beaches, or bars in Makarska, they even sent local tips over Whatsapp. The balcony and open kitchen were lovely spots to watch the sunsets. We didn’t have a car, so getting back up the hill meant a climb, but it was worth it. The apartment is on the second floor, so there’s no disabled access. It was clean, cheerful, and affordable, and we’d stay again.

The walk back up to the room is the one downside. Otherwise, this place has plenty going for it: the beach is close, and the center is even nearer, about 400 meters away. Rooms come with air conditioning, an equipped kitchen, a bathroom, a terrace or balcony, and parking. There are rooms at different standards in the building. The nicer ones are called Adriona, while Dinka Guesthouse is more modest but just as spacious and comfortable. The hostess was friendly and helpful, and welcomed us with coffee and juice.
