Apartments Anamarija

This place, and especially the owners, ruined our vacation. The apartment wasn’t clean in general, not just missed after the previous guests. When I pointed out the dirt, including an old, used, disgusting bar of soap and floors that hadn’t even been vacuumed, the owners laughed and cleaned very superficially. The woman wiped the bedroom furniture with the same sponge used for the dishes. She mopped with a very dirty mop without vacuuming first, then wiped the floor with a piece of towel using her feet. They used an oven cleaning product on the toilet. During this so-called cleaning, the husband and wife made disrespectful jokes about our not speaking good Deutsch, although we live in Austria. My wife said she understood Italian, and they started addressing her in a very pejorative way as “Donna” and “Dotoressa” for asking for a clean room. They said that in Austria and Italia we probably clean toilets, “pulire wc,” and come to their house with such high demands. They laughed together in Croatian and were extremely disrespectful. We tried to find somewhere else to stay, but couldn’t find anything within our price range. We were exhausted after a 12-hour drive, and the children really wanted to go to the seaside, so we stayed. We regret it. We asked for a vacuum cleaner, bought cleaning and disinfecting products at a shop, and my wife cleaned everything herself. I had booked the apartment through Daniel on Airbnb, but it turned out he was the owners’ son and lived in Switzerland. He probably had no idea what was happening there. After I told him about the apartment’s condition, he said he’d give us a 50 euro discount and apologized for the inconvenience. At the end of our stay, Daniel withdrew that promise, claiming I had blackmailed him. Thirty minutes after we left, knowing we’d write a bad review, he falsely accused us of leaving the apartment really dirty and of making a big stain on a mattress that meant they couldn’t use it. He doesn’t know that we made a video minutes before leaving, so he’ll discover that now. Apart from the full trash can, the apartment was cleaner than we found it. We washed the dishes, put the used towels in the bathroom and left everything in order. We made an official claim to Airbnb and are still waiting for a response. It was an absolutely terrible experience. I don’t think these people should work in tourism or be allowed to provide any kind of customer service. Please stay away!
