Hotel Apoksiomen by OHM Group

We stopped at the cafe downstairs with a few friends, though I didn’t stay at the hotel. The virgin mojito was pretty good, but the orange juice was average, and our three cold Nescafé coffees arrived hot. The women’s bathroom was out of order, which was inconvenient. For a cafe in the centre of Mali Losinj, I expected more. It was quite expensive, and they kept our 10 cent change. Maybe try somewhere else if you can.

Right in the town centre, the location is a real plus. Parking costs €20 and is a five minute walk from the hotel. But the breakfast was pretty terrible, with little to choose from for food or drinks. If you want anything besides the premade coffee, you have to pay, and there was a discussion about where we could sit. We spent three days trying to get towels, which somehow became a big issue at a 4-star hotel. They offer dinner, or a 10% discount for guests. It has the potential to be a great 4-star place and charge its prices, but the service right now falls short of what you pay.

The rooms have high ceilings and have been remodeled. The hotel sits right on the waterfront, with friendly staff, good wifi, and a breakfast with plenty of variety. We also enjoyed the cocktails and the 6-8pm happy hour.

I only visited the coffee and sweet shop inside the hotel, not the hotel itself. Given its prominent name and central location, I expected better. The cake was awful, like a sponge made from margarine and rubber. I think the last time I had cake like that was in 1989. In general, I find the food scene in Mali Losinj pretty poor, and the restaurants all seem much the same, as if they copied their menus from the place next door.
