We had a car and bikes with us, so being farther from the beach didn't bother us. The apartment itself was spacious and had everything we needed. There’s a shaded spot in the yard with a grill, so you can cook meat outside even on a hot summer day without baking in the sun. Our host was chatty and friendly, and welcomed us with a drink and fruit from his garden. We also enjoyed the playful cat that lives nearby, especially our two-year-old son. This was probably our best apartment stay in Croatia so far.

We spent two weeks here and had a really good stay. The apartment was peaceful and very clean, with a terrace, and the landlord treated us kindly. The price felt fair. Getting to the sea took about ten minutes by car.

The hosts were so polite and accommodating that they made the stay special, and we'd book here again if we return. We always felt well looked after, right from the start. Matulji is in a lovely setting and has several restaurants where you can eat well for a reasonable price. There's plenty to see nearby too: the historic lanes and traditions of Kastav, the picturesque hill town of Veprinac with its cultural and historical monument, and Ucka National Park, which you can drive to. The promenade between Opatija and Lovran is another option, with little bays along the way where you can stop and linger. That's just a small sample.

We stayed four days and came away with nothing but praise. It was quiet, surrounded by nature, easy to reach by car, and had plenty of parking. Opatija is about a ten-minute drive away. With the good price here, driving there for the beautiful sea views and paying a few euros to park worked out much more comfortably and cheaply for us than staying in expensive accommodation by the sea. The apartment was even better equipped than we expected. Everything was new and perfectly clean, with lovely, high-quality furniture and a comfortable bed. We couldn't think of anything it lacked. The hosts were extremely kind and accommodating. No complaints from us, we'd definitely recommend it.
