We loved how quiet Opatija was during these strange times. Big crowds aren't our thing, so it suited us perfectly, and Ružmarin is well worth a visit. But the week at Villa Olea is what we'll carry home with us. The location was amazing, the place felt luxurious, and we spent lovely days and evenings in the pool and jacuzzi. Barbara looked after every need. There was fresh fruit, juice and a bottle of Croatian wine waiting in the fridge, and when we left she gave us another bottle and a giant chocolate bar for our daughter. We've moved on to our next holiday home for the week, and it's really nice too, but we already miss Villa Olea. We have some amazing memories from that first week and hope to return to Villa Olea and Opatija. Thanks so much to Barbara and her family.

The hosts were very kind and helpful. When the bed frame broke, they fixed it right away, and the view is fantastic. The pool is great too. Still, this is very expensive for what you get, and I wouldn't rate it as five-star, more like three. The rooms are very clean but small, and the provider's photos make them look bigger. The ground-floor bathroom feels claustrophobic, with barely enough room for a man to shower. The whirlpool smells strongly of chlorine. The house sits on a slope, and getting up the road is a real challenge. I'm writing this on behalf of a friend.
