Hotel Medistone

After travelling through coastal cities all over Europe, this is one of the best hotels I’ve stayed in. The rooms and facilities are modern, cozy, and spacious. There’s a beautiful beach, sauna, pool, and gym, and the staff are great. The food in their restaurant was first class too.

The rooms are clean and look nice, but get very little sunlight. If you book a room with a jacuzzi, know that the neighbours can see you clearly. They charge extra for everything. The so-called private beach is public, with only a limited number of sunbeds, and you pay at least 10 euro per bed per day. You have to go early, register your name, and pay if you want one. The pool is small, more like a kids’ play area. There aren’t many nearby restaurant choices, so you end up with the same hotel menu every day. They aim for a premium experience at a premium price, but fall well short. I think you can find better places for that money.

We were glad we’d booked here after arriving in Split and finding it too crowded and busy for us. The slower pace, coastal views, and beach access suited us so much better. The staff were friendly and accommodating, the food was excellent, and the rooms were comfortable, especially the beds. We couldn’t have been happier with our time at Hotel Medistone. What a fantastic place!

On our third visit, a frightening incident completely overshadowed the stay. One evening, a team hired by the hotel was operating a drone above the restaurant terrace without warning or safety precautions. When my young child ran out, a woman with the team grabbed his arm forcefully and pulled him back inside without our consent. He was terrified, had a panic reaction, and said his arm hurt. The manager's response made things worse: instead of apologizing, they defended what happened by pointing to their own unsafe drone activity. Families with children should be very cautious about staying here.
