The villa would work well for a quiet break or a livelier holiday, and the inside was mostly satisfactory. But our stay had serious problems, so I can only give it one star overall. The biggest issue was the electricity. On arrival, none of the outlets in the downstairs bedroom worked. After the first day, the entire ground floor lost power for two days. We had no air conditioning, fridge, outdoor lights, internet, hot water, or working pool during that time. An electrician was supposed to come at 6:00 a.m. the next morning, but didn’t arrive until late afternoon, and only fixed the most urgent issues. Unexpected faults can happen, but the electrical problems seemed to be known, and a more proactive response and matching price adjustment would have been appropriate. We still had to pay the full rental price. The outside also looked neglected, and the bin left by the previous guests at the entrance gate hadn’t been emptied, so the smell made a bad first impression. At the price, though, that was still acceptable.

Our holiday in the magnificent villa in Buje is over now, sadly, but it was unforgettable. The pool was fantastic, the surrounding area was perfect, and the villa made an ideal base for excursions. All the rooms had air conditioning, which made everything so comfortable. We were welcomed warmly and the “starter pack” was a lovely touch. The little tips for Istria were a real treat too.

The owners were very nice, and we had a wonderful stay at Villa Laurus. It’s a beautiful, modern villa with everything you could want. The large terrace and pool were great, and the place was very clean and tidy, with everything working properly. The town center is about a five-minute drive away.

Annette and Ivona were incredibly kind and gave us helpful tips about the region. We were seven at Laurus Residence and had a fantastic time. There was plenty of room for work and for everyone to have a quiet place to retreat. The only downside was the unheated pool, though in summer it wasn’t really a problem. We’d love to come back!
