The little hotel "Kaštel" has excellent service, but I’d strongly recommend steering clear of its restaurant. It used to be a gem, but now feels like a tourist trap, with awful food at prices you’d expect at a Michelin-starred place. There are much better spots for truffle dishes within a 15-minute radius.

We waited at a table in front of the hotel for 15 minutes while the staff served people who’d arrived after us, right beside us. Several waiters walked past and ignored us over and over. Really, really rude. If you’re looking for excellent service, go to pod voltum instead. 18:00, 02/09/25

They looked after every need for our wedding and our guests, who kept telling us how perfect everything was. The venue and its setting felt magical. When we renew our vows in 40 years, we’ll be back!

The staff were great, and we really enjoyed the views. We only stopped for a quick bite, though, and the Bruschetta with truffles disappointed. It was basically toast with cheese spread and very little truffle sauce. At 12 EUR, it felt overpriced for what you get.

The pool and spa were very nice, and our suite was huge and nicely furnished. We were comfortable here and wished our other stays in Istra had been this nice. After we left, I called about something we’d lost. The staff returned my call right away and followed up several times with information. Excellent customer service ❤️. It’s a wonderful property for enjoying Motovun’s history and views.
