We stayed at Sancta Maria from August 23-30, 2025, and came away very disappointed. For over €9,000, the reality was drastically different from the glossy website photos, as our comparison pictures show. Several advertised or expected things were missing or unusable: there was no fitness room or PlayStation, the outdoor hot tub was out of order, the table tennis table was broken, there was no outdoor kitchen, the food processor was missing, and the refrigerator's freezer compartment wouldn't close. The spa area was very dirty. After just 1-2 days, our children's white swimwear had turned yellowish, and we had to change the water ourselves. The basement children's rooms smelled of heating oil, which was completely unacceptable. Other parts of the property were in very poor shape too, including dilapidated wooden structures, broken furniture, and neglected play areas. We strongly advise against booking here. This review is also documented with photos.

It's good to see life returning to this old hill town high above Mirna valley. Villa (Sancta) Maria is one of several ancient, interesting houses available to rent along a quiet cobbled street in Motovun.

Lovely house, with a pool that's just the right size. We were able to use the vegetable patch too.
